Quick Note from Kiki:

Hi Everyone!

Did anyone else run the BOLDERBoulder? I ran it this Memorial Day for the first time and I am exhaustedbut at least I got a picture of Elvis. Don’t let this trick you into thinking I’m a runner. I only did it because I committed to it. I still think running is torture, but I really admire people who are disciplined enough to do it regularly.

My dad, for example, wakes up every single day at 5 a.m. to go for a run. Wild.

Always feel free to email me at [email protected] with comments, ideas, or any topics you would like to see more or less of.

What's Happening

Outside Festival and Summit🎶

Outside Festival at Civic Center Park in Denver. Photo: 303 Magazine

Denver’s Civic Center Park is transforming into an outdoor dream this weekend for the Outside Festival, a two-day celebration of music, movement, and mountain culture from May 31 to June 1, 2025. I found this Youtube video from last year’s Outside Festival that gives a nice little recap in case you want to see what it’s all about!

Headliners include indie darlings Khruangbin, Sylvan Esso, Lord Huron, and Trampled by Turtles, alongside yoga sessions, climbing demos, and panel talks with adventure legends like Alex Honnold and Diana Nyad. There’s even a gear demo village, a climate storytelling lounge, and hands-on clinics from REI and CorePower. This is also a networking event, so make sure to check out the guest speakers at the summit if you’re interested.

This event is not free—tickets start at $95.

Free Concert: Jeremy Zucker at Levitt Pavilion 🎤

The Levitt Pavilion's free summer concert series starts this Friday, May 30th with Jeremy Zucker! If you're into indie-pop, you may know his hits "comethru" and "talk is overrated." I am linking to the videos because they are really cute and indie, and worth watching before going to the concert!

It's happening at Ruby Hill Park (1380 W. Florida Ave.), and it’ll make for a nice evening out. You can bring a blanket, settle in on the hill, grab dinner from the food trucks, and enjoy the music as the sun sets. The event runs from 5:30 to 9:30 PM, and since it's all-ages and completely free, it's perfect for families or a low-key date night.

You should probably RSVP to secure a spot, but walk-ups are welcome until they hit capacity.

Pro tip: Bring a lawn chair if you want to be comfortable and get a good view of the stage.

Free Concert: Luciane Dom w/ Michele Castro & Bill Kopper 🌎

On Saturday, May 31, Brazilian singer-songwriter Luciane Dom brings her rich Afro-Samba-Jazz sound to Levitt Pavilion for another magical evening of free music.

Performing with Michele Castro and guitarist Bill Kopper, Luciane’s set is sure to be warm, rhythmic, and soulful, great for swaying under the open sky at Ruby Hill Park.

The music begins at 6:00 PM.

New coworking space caters to Denver dog owners

Tired of choosing between productivity and puppy time? Enter HomeDog, Denver's first dog-friendly coworking space, nestled in the former Grandma’s House brewery.

Founded by remote worker and dog dad Alex Novick, HomeDog was born from his own struggle to balance work with caring for his pup, Narly.

Memberships range from $95 to $195/month, offering unlimited desk time, high-speed Wi-Fi, and access to a 6,000-square-foot outdoor pooch patio.

HomeDog is located at 1710 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80210.

For the canine-curious, $25 day passes are available. Coming soon: a full-service coffee bar and taproom serving local beer and wine.

Whether you're a freelancer needing a change of scenery or a dog lover seeking community, HomeDog offers a unique blend of work and play.

A 1940s fortune cookie factory in Baker has been transformed into The Cookie Factory, a 5,000-square-foot contemporary art space.

Founded by developer and philanthropist Amanda Precourt, the gallery is a labor of love nearly a decade in the making.

The space features rotating exhibitions, a sculpture garden, and video installations, all designed to foster community and healing through art.

The inaugural exhibit, "Nothing Without Nature" by Sam Falls, showcases works inspired by Colorado's landscapes.

If you are interested in this art exhibit, you can follow their Instagram to know when they’re open to the public. I know the exhibit is ongoing (May 24- Sept 24), but I couldn't find any information on fixed hours.

The Spicy Librarian, where your next great love story awaits

Former kindergarten teacher Sydney Ivey has turned her passion for romance novels into Spicy Librarian, Denver's first romance-only bookstore. Located in the heart of RiNo, the shop offers a curated selection spanning every subgenre, from sweet to "dark mafia."

A standout feature is "The Vault," a hidden room behind a bookshelf offering a selection of adult products, aiming to create a shame-free space celebrating women's pleasure and passions.

Located at 3040 Blake St., Suite 110, Denver, CO 80205.

Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m., Spicy Librarian is more than a bookstore, it's a community hub celebrating love, empowerment, and the joy of reading.

Book recommendation:
I am not a great reader of romance or fantasy books, but "Half a Soul" was recommended on BookTok, I read it, and I loved it, so that's my little recommendation for the day.

The book is about a girl who gets cursed by a fairie to have half a soul, which is a metaphor for neurodivergence (very tastefully done, by the way).

She's trying to find her place in the world when the Lord Sorcier takes an interest in her and tries to help her, but fear not, he does not save her or anything like that.

Local News

Denver recently celebrated the grand opening of Holly38, a significant addition to the city's affordable housing landscape.

Situated in the Northeast Park Hill neighborhood, Holly38 features 253 income-restricted rental homes designed to offer more accessible living options for local residents. Holly38 is located on a six-acre site at 3800 N. Holly St. and 5909 E. 38th Ave.

This development is a cornerstone of Denver's broader initiative to enhance affordable housing opportunities and foster greater community stability in the area.

Holly38 offers one- to four-bedroom homes, all income-restricted for households earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income (AMI).

Health Alert: Measles Exposure at Denver International Airport

Denver health authorities warned residents this week about possible measles contact at the city's main airport after an infected traveler passed through the facility.

The out-of-state visitor arrived at DIA on May 13th and spent the night at a nearby airport hotel before catching another flight the next morning.

People who were at the airport or Quality Inn during that timeframe should watch for symptoms until early June, since measles spreads easily through the air.

Officials stress that getting the MMR vaccination is the best way to prevent catching this disease.

City planners want to change how traffic flows through downtown Denver by allowing cars to travel in both directions on several major streets.

The idea came up during discussions about Denver's long-term downtown development plan, which looks ahead to the next 20 years.

Officials think allowing traffic in both directions could help local businesses get more visibility while making it easier for pedestrians to navigate the area safely.

Denver wants feedback from people who spend time downtown before making any final decisions about changing the street layout. If you have an opinion on the matter, you can make your voice heard by completing this survey.
